Described as a timeless classic, the Dorset sofa has cushions that are stuffed with high quality fibres all by hand and with the option of duck down for the really discerning on request.

Featuring straight arms and with a level back, all deep foamed for comfort combined with built in longevity of shape, the Dorset chesterfield sofa oozes fine features such as hand nailed brass studs and mahogany bun feet polished for good looks and protection. Naturally the Dorset can be covered with one of the three styles of leather finish and in the full range of colours that are offered by us, but the most popular would appear to be our white premium leather, making this iconic chesterfield one of our best sellers. We are often asked to supply leather furniture for office and commercial premises such as hotels, commercial receptions, boardrooms etc., this can take the form of a corner sofa, an example would be the Hertford sofa for instance. One of the most popular choices is our Buckingham range of sofas, club chairs and matching footstools. In common with all our products, the Buckingham is hand made to the most exacting standards, built over a hardwood frame, with deep sprung back and arms, sporting distinctive lines most notably a crested back, and slashed arms, which set this range apart from the rest. The classical look is completed by contoured lines and single buttoned facings, with the sofa available as a two, three or four seta version and low club chairs and footstools to match.

We consider that the hand dying of our fine grain leathers is the best that is available for our hand made Chesterfield products. The finishing of the leather in this manner is a time honoured and a truly traditional method of colouring the natural product and certainly gives individuality to the chesterfield.

The way in which our time served professional leather craftsmen colour finish this is the way that it has been done for centuries. Firstly the leather is vegetable tanned and then it is dyed by hand by the craftsman. It is then sealed and then carefully fitted to the chesterfield sofa or chair. This traditional way ensures that the leather has a finish which is deep and rich in colour; because the leather is fine grained it is soft to the touch and over time will develop its own individual patina and will improve with age, just right for a traditional chesterfield.

We have deliberately based the design of the Derby sofa on the turn of the century style of sofa which has stood up to the test of time in so many situations.

With the Derby we feature a stiff hand sprung and buttoned base and back, hand crafted on to a solid beech wood frame constructed carefully using only screws and dowels which is guaranteed to ensure a long trouble free life. We have used polished mahogany bun feet, further adding to the classical appearance of this chesterfield. The full range of Derby style leather furniture comprises matching footstool, low chair, and two, three, or four seater sofas. The full range of leather finish and colours is available for the Derby range, but we feel it looks its best in Antique Brown leather.

Well we are sorry but we cannot answer that as it will depend upon a number of factors. If your choice is from our antique range of leather finish, because of the process which requires blacking the leather first, darker colours are a natural choice. If you decide upon a hand dyed leather finish for your chesterfield, the ultimate in leather finishes, wood colours such as oak or chestnut are offered.

Modern contemporary settings lend themselves to the full range of colours that we can provide, 34 in all. Whichever you decide upon, you can be assured that it will receive dedicated care and attention to the finish from our professional leather workers.

The choice of our three leather finishes and wide range of 70 shades is offered on all our office and boardroom furniture, hand finished to your precise requirements.

The Raleigh office chair as an example is a straight backed and fully buttoned, and this will, we are sure, bring a tough of class and formality to any office or board room it may adorn. Ideally suited to a boardroom situation, the Raleigh swivel chair can be complemented with matching Raleigh straight backed side or carver style chairs.

At distinctive Chesterfields we are very proud of the two versions of Chaise Longue that we have made for many hundreds of customers. All of these people knew what they wanted but some had no idea how it became named. Basically it is French for long chair, but in modern France the term chaise longue can refer to any long reclining chair such as a deckchair, the name of course sounds a bit fancy but that’s the French for you! In North America they refer to it as a “Chaise Lounge” a mixed spelling and pronunciation, now established over there.

Perhaps the more popular of the two we manufacture is the Princess Chaise Longue built over a traditional hardwood frame, upholstered in classic leather and features a fully buttoned top. Because of the Victorian styling, we feel that our darker leathers are more suited to the look, but the full range of leather is, of course, available.

If you have antique style furniture in your home or place of work, adding a new Chesterfield sofa, club chair or office chair, could make this stand out and not blend with the ambience of the room. At Distinctive Chesterfields we can solve this problem by “Antiquing” this for you.

Firstly we would hand craft the piece as normal to ensure that it meets all the standards of a Distinctive Chesterfield piece and the leather is then blacked with a special treatment which makes the whole of the hide appear very dark, in fact almost black, the frame is also treated in this way. Following on, one of our professional leather craftsmen would, using a special solution, rub the leather lightly to reveal the lighter colour below to replicate the look of a traditional, antique leather chesterfield or chair. Your piece of Distinctive Furniture is then sealed to ensure that the effect is not lost over time and the sofa or chair blends comfortably into its surroundings.

When you see sofas and three piece suites advertised in the newspapers and television at around £1500, it would be natural to think that a three piece suite, in classic leather finish, hand made by time served craftsmen all under one roof in Yorkshire would cost double that amount. That would be entirely natural. However, you would be wrong in this assumption because at Distinctive Chesterfields, for a limited period only, you can buy this for just £1399.

The three piece suite is made from full hide leather and comprises a three seat Chesterfield sofa and two chairs in either high back, or low back, but if you prefer you can choose one of each. These are with a buttoned or a cushioned seat and along with the sofa, all made to our high exacting standards. The hardwood frames are glued and dowelled, sprung in zigzag style with hand contoured foam all covered in full hide quality leather which is available in most of our colour range.
