Over the years the demand from world markets for quality handmade leather sofas inspired the family owned Distinctive Chesterfields to supply their quality product to these overseas markets. As a Yorkshire based company built on family values, where customers’ personal requirements are valued and met, it is no surprise that the demand for their leather chesterfield sofas, club and office chairs has grown over the years, with products being sent to Europe, Africa, the American and Australasia continents.

Success is in no small part is due to the high quality of the hand made products. With frames made from sustainable hardwoods, and selected quality leathers in three finishes, and 34 colours, the range of sixteen models of Chesterfield sofas, six club chairs and five office chairs as well as matching footstools, Distinctive Chesterfields can expect to continue to satisfy the worldwide demand.

One of the most popular choices is our Buckingham range of sofas, club chairs and matching footstools. In common with all our products, the Buckingham is hand made to the most exacting standards, built over a hardwood frame, with deep sprung back and arms, sporting distinctive lines most notably a crested back, and slashed arms, which set this range apart from the rest. The classical look is completed by contoured lines and single buttoned facings, with the sofa available as a two, three or four seta version and low club chairs and footstools to match.

We have hundreds of visitors who come to look through our showrooms; many who have not yet decided which Distinctive Chesterfield that they wish to buy from us, some looking to get ideas for their home or commercial premises, others deciding which style or colour of our handcrafted leather to chose for their sofa or club chair.

We have recently introduced our Suffolk range of Distinctive Chesterfield because you demanded it and we can understand the reason for this. Without doubt the Suffolk, when highly polished in our red antique leather finish, just looks the part and it is both slim and comfortable.

The Suffolk is simply made for a hotel lobby or comfy bar area, but looks equally as good in a home setting. The Suffolk Chesterfield has slimline arms with a fully buttoned interior and is can be made as a two or three seat version. We can combine this with a number of low chairs, plus matching footstools if required, perfect for your living room.

Naturally, our Suffolk range is available in the three styles of leather finish with all the colours we produce, but we are sure that when you see this in antique leather finish, this could be the one of your choice.

Leather is a natural product which not only looks good, can be stained and hand finished to a variety of colours and types, but is a warm long lasting durable material, in fact it has been ideal for covering chairs, sofas, and other items for hundreds of years.

If plastic had been around a couple of hundred years ago, can you imagine ever seeing an original piece on show today in a stately home? We don’t believe so and if it was, it would have a really hard feel and be cracked or split. With leather we can produce a leather finish that entirely suits the requirements of the user, will still feel warm and soft to the touch, and given the right care and maintenance will give years of service and although it will mature, it will still look as good as when it was first made by Distinctive Chesterfields.

We are not sure whether our Livingston Club Chair was named specifically after the famous Scottish medical missionary, that first set eyes in November 1855 upon the famous falls in Africa, which he named after the then Queen, Victoria. What we do know however, is that this club chair is also a classic to set eyes upon and simply oozes style, which will certainly enhance your living room, office, or commercial premises.

The Livingston Club Chair has its own individual lines, is deep seated with exposed hardwood legs and a contoured arm that you will ensure that you experience a unique feel. The club chair is offered with a choice of all our styles of leather finish and in the full range of colours from which you can choose. There are dining chairs and there are Distinctive Dining chairs, which you would choose is of course a matter of your personal taste, but we would imagine that if you visit our Yorkshire Showroom and see some of our collection your mind could be made up.

The Raleigh Dining Chair collection is available as a side chair or you could decide upon adding a carver to your set. Naturally, the Raleigh is handmade in our workshops by time served craftsmen using only chosen hardwoods and the full range of leather used in our sofa and club chairs. The dining chairs are straight backed and feature fully buttoned backs with all the range of colours and styles of leather which could be matching or contrasting to other products such as a club chair in your dining room.

At our Distinctive Chesterfields showroom we welcome visitors where some of the wonderful range of genuine hand made leather sofas and chairs is on show and if required, high resolution photographs of all the product range can also be provided upon request.

We place a great deal of emphasis on the way that we, at Distinctive Chesterfields, use traditional methods and materials throughout the whole process of making a Chesterfield Sofa or Club Chair which requires a great deal of skill, in many areas. Starting with the all important frame, which is hand made by time-served frame makers using high grade materials, through to the leather finish which is from specially selected hides. This is finished and cut by trained leatherworkers, who have a keen eye for only the best quality leathers, all in our traditional workshops. If the Sofa or Chair is upholstered, this is undertaken by apprentice trained upholsterers, all masters in their field.

We never cut corners at Distinctive Chesterfields, and you can be certain that you will never find PU panels, the best leather only, never rig or regenerated, split or demic leather, supplied in three finishes and 34 different colours. Any Sofa can be made to your individual requirements higher, longer, deeper, firmer or softer, we will be happy to accommodate you.

Seen in some of the world’s finest sitting rooms and government residences, the combination of a Cumberland Chesterfield Sofa and matching Club Chair has to be the Rolls Royce of the leather sofa and chair world.

We manufacture the Cumberland with a hand sprung frame including fully sprung arms and back. Solid brass castors as standard and the full range of leathers in finished colours to your personal choice from the swatches that will be sent to you on request. The Cumberland sofa combination from Distinctive Chesterfields will say something about you and your home or workplace.
