Perhaps those who come to our showrooms most frequently are parties from North America looking to buy a genuine Chesterfield Sofa or Club Chair, hand made by traditional English Craftsmen in Yorkshire.

Fears regarding shipping are quickly put to rest as we have many years of experience sending our “Distinctive” products worldwide, which is always handled by our professional furniture shipping agents. If you have antique style furniture in your home or place of work, adding a new Chesterfield sofa, club chair or office chair, could make this stand out and not blend with the ambience of the room. At Distinctive Chesterfields we can solve this problem by “Antiquing” this for you.

Firstly we would hand craft the piece as normal to ensure that it meets all the standards of a Distinctive Chesterfield piece and the leather is then blacked with a special treatment which makes the whole of the hide appear very dark, in fact almost black, the frame is also treated in this way. Following on, one of our professional leather craftsmen would, using a special solution, rub the leather lightly to reveal the lighter colour below to replicate the look of a traditional, antique leather chesterfield or chair. Your piece of Distinctive Furniture is then sealed to ensure that the effect is not lost over time and the sofa or chair blends comfortably into its surroundings.

There are dining chairs and there are Distinctive Dining chairs, which you would choose is of course a matter of your personal taste, but we would imagine that if you visit our Yorkshire Showroom and see some of our collection your mind could be made up.

The Raleigh Dining Chair collection is available as a side chair or you could decide upon adding a carver to your set. Naturally, the Raleigh is handmade in our workshops by time served craftsmen using only chosen hardwoods and the full range of leather used in our sofa and club chairs. The dining chairs are straight backed and feature fully buttoned backs with all the range of colours and styles of leather which could be matching or contrasting to other products such as a club chair in your dining room.

At our Distinctive Chesterfields showroom we welcome visitors where some of the wonderful range of genuine hand made leather sofas and chairs is on show and if required, high resolution photographs of all the product range can also be provided upon request.

We place a great deal of emphasis on the way that we, at Distinctive Chesterfields, use traditional methods and materials throughout the whole process of making a Chesterfield Sofa or Club Chair which requires a great deal of skill, in many areas. Starting with the all important frame, which is hand made by time-served frame makers using high grade materials, through to the leather finish which is from specially selected hides. This is finished and cut by trained leatherworkers, who have a keen eye for only the best quality leathers, all in our traditional workshops. If the Sofa or Chair is upholstered, this is undertaken by apprentice trained upholsterers, all masters in their field.

We never cut corners at Distinctive Chesterfields, and you can be certain that you will never find PU panels, the best leather only, never rig or regenerated, split or demic leather, supplied in three finishes and 34 different colours. Any Sofa can be made to your individual requirements higher, longer, deeper, firmer or softer, we will be happy to accommodate you.

When you see sofas and three piece suites advertised in the newspapers and television at around £1500, it would be natural to think that a three piece suite, in classic leather finish, hand made by time served craftsmen all under one roof in Yorkshire would cost double that amount. That would be entirely natural. However, you would be wrong in this assumption because at Distinctive Chesterfields, for a limited period only, you can buy this for just £1399.

The three piece suite is made from full hide leather and comprises a three seat Chesterfield sofa and two chairs in either high back, or low back, but if you prefer you can choose one of each. These are with a buttoned or a cushioned seat and along with the sofa, all made to our high exacting standards. The hardwood frames are glued and dowelled, sprung in zigzag style with hand contoured foam all covered in full hide quality leather which is available in most of our colour range. It is hardly surprising that the Norfolk is one of our most popular Chesterfield Leather Sofas, as it is a subtle development of what we would regard as our “Rolls Royce” of the sofa world, the Cumberland Sofa. In a distinct look from the ground upwards, you will find that the Norfolk Leather Chesterfield Sofa has a unique feel and its shape is transformed by the detailing on the arms through the effect of being “slashed” with tighter fitting buttons.

With a combination of sofa and club chair this would grace any sitting room or office reception, but the Norfolk on its own will add that extra touch and class to your room. You can buy a hand built three seater chesterfield sofa from as low as £599. This is not a cheap alternative to the products that are produced by Distinctive Chesterfields, a genuine three seater sofa constructed in our Yorkshire workshops in genuine antique leather, unlike some of our competitors who choose split or demic leathers. As with all our sofa and chair products, the frame is hand constructed from hardwood with quality springs and foams. Seen in some of the world’s finest sitting rooms and government residences, the combination of a Cumberland Chesterfield Sofa and matching Club Chair has to be the Rolls Royce of the leather sofa and chair world.

We manufacture the Cumberland with a hand sprung frame including fully sprung arms and back. Solid brass castors as standard and the full range of leathers in finished colours to your personal choice from the swatches that will be sent to you on request. The Cumberland sofa combination from Distinctive Chesterfields will say something about you and your home or workplace.

The standard sofa is a four seater version although it is possible to increase the overall length of this, we have made them 5.5 metres or a massive sixteen and three quarter feet! For smaller homes or rooms the Distinctive Chesterfield, although desirable may not be suitable due to other pieces of furniture in the room. In these cases it is still possible to enhance your room with a Buttoned Wing, or a Chesterfield Club Chair.

The Wing Chair is a true iconic symbol of English heritage, it is only necessary to walk around any manor house or one of the many stately homes in the country to see these traditional leather chairs.

The Club, or Chesterfield chair, is more likely to be seen at the golf club, in the officers’ mess, or a private members club, in fact its name was derived from the nineteenth century when seen at London clubs.
